Open Enrollment for 2025 Has Ended

2025 Retiree Open Enrollment
 October 15-December 7, 2024

We are pleased to announce that the benefits open enrollment period for retirees is now open. This is your once-a-year opportunity to enroll in new benefits, confirm existing benefits, or make changes.

Please note that if you do not enroll or make changes during open enrollment, you cannot make changes to your benefit elections unless you experience a qualifying life event.

We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to review your benefits and make any necessary changes. If you have any questions or need assistance with the process, please contact Department of Administrative Services, Human Resources Enterprise - 866-895-2464 or stateretirees@iowa.gov

ATTENTION: If you drop the State's Iowa Choice, National Choice, Group Program F, or Group Program N for any reason, you will NOT be able to rejoin the State-sponsored retiree health insurance options at a later date. Dropping the Group MedicareBlue Rx for Iowa Part D plan is not considered leaving the State's retiree health plans.

How to determine your drug cost
It can be a challenge to estimate your prescription drug cost, especially if your drugs are in Tier 3, Tier 4 and Tier 5. Consider the questions below to help you determine how much you will pay for covered medicine.

  • What is the name of your drug?
  • What is the dosage amount you take of your drug?
  • How do you take your drug? For example, is your drug in a pill form? Or is it injectable?
  • What is the name of your doctor?

Once you know the answers, follow these steps to get an estimate of your drugs cost:

  1. Access the 5-Tier group formulary on YourMedicareSolutions.com/GroupPlans to find out which tier your drug is on.
  2. Enrolled members call Group MedicareBlue Rx Customer Service at 877-838-3827, 8 A.M.. – 8 P.M., daily, Central time (TTY 711), and refer to the employer group for the State of Iowa, Group number 38073.
  3. Ask Group MedicareBlue Rx Customer Service to run a trial claim to find out your drug costs.

Please note that this is only an estimate and the costs may change once you are enrolled.
