When can I schedule?
State of Iowa employees and covered family members can schedule their annual preventive exam once per calendar year (Jan. 1st – Dec. 31st). For example, if you receive your annual exam at any time within the current calendar year, you are eligible for your next exam after December 31, before 12 months have elapsed. Because the second one was scheduled after the start of the new calendar year, both will be covered by your health care plan.
Covered Example:
- You receive your exam on August 1st and schedule your next one for April 6th of the following calendar year.
- The second exam is covered under your health care plan for the new calendar year, before 12 months have elapsed. You will be eligible to receive your next exam after December 31st.
Not Covered Example:
- You receive your exam on May 12th and schedule your next one for October 3rd of the same calendar year.
- The second exam is not covered under your health care plan as it occurs during the same calendar year. You will be eligible to receive your next exam after December 31st.
