Beginning Thursday, September 10, 2020, Defensive Driving classes for state of Iowa drivers will be offered online, making required training more convenient for drivers and more cost effective for State agencies.
The four hour web-based classes are provided by the National Safety Council. DAS Fleet Services will notify drivers and Agency Fleet Contacts of required Defensive Driving attendance and provide an access code for online enrollment. The employing agency will be billed $31.95 per person via eDAS.
Effective Thursday, September 10, 2020, until further notice:
- Defensive Driving requirements per Iowa Administrative Council (IAC) 11-103.12(8A) Corrective Actions have been modified to allow Defensive Driving online in lieu of classroom training provided by the Iowa State Patrol.
- Drivers who meet Corrective Actions criteria per IAC 11-103.12(8A) will be required to complete the Defensive Driving course.
- Defensive Driving pursuant to IAC 11-103.8(8A) Mandatory Training is waived.
- All other requirements pursuant to IAC 11-103 (8A) remain in effect.
