What to do

Follow these procedures if you are experiencing any mechanical difficulties in a State of Iowa vehicle:

  • Call National Automobile Club (NAC) FleetRescue* (866-329-3471) for jump starts, lockouts, tire changes, or fuel delivery.

  • For towing, contact National Automobile Club (NAC) FleetRescue* (866-329-3471), a local towing company that will bill the State directly or local law enforcement.

  • Report breakdowns to your agency fleet contact and supervisor. Notify DAS Fleet Services (515-281-3162) of any mechanical difficulties or repairs involving a DAS Motor Pool vehicle.

  • Routine service, maintenance, and repairs may be performed by any licensed service provider who direct bills the State of Iowa.

  • Inform vendors all repairs over $500 must be approved by DAS Fleet Services prior to work being started. Vendors must call 515-281-3162 for pre-approval.
