GENERAL PROVISIONS CODE CITATION ON CLAIMS

  1. Section BA.513 of the Code of Iowa states, "The director of the Department of Administrative Services-State Accounting Enterprise-Daily Processing, before approving a claim, shall determine that the claim is clearly authorized by law. Statutes authorizing the expenditure may be referenced through account coding authorized by the director." 
  2. In some instances, the authorization to spend will not change from year to year. In other instances, such as yearly appropriations, the authorization to spend will change from year to year. All changes to departments' authorizations to spend should be sent to DAS-SAE-Daily Processing.
