Peace Officer Cadets are eligible for benefits available to non-SPOC-covered employees.
The health insurance plan available to SPOC-covered employees is Alliance Select. The State-sponsored health insurance plan is provided by Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
Alliance Select offers access to a large selection of doctors and hospitals in Iowa and nationwide. You may seek health care from any provider located in the United States. In Iowa, in-network care can be received at 100 percent of hospitals and 99 percent of doctors. Outside of the state, you'll have access to 96 percent of hospitals and 93 percent of doctors. Keep in mind with this option you can see any provider you choose, but you will have lower out-of-pocket expenses if you choose a network provider.
Health Insurance Premiums
SPOC-covered employees share in the cost of health insurance by paying 20% of the total health insurance premium. By participating in the Healthy Opportunities Wellness Program, a SPOC-covered employees can reduce the amount of their health insurance premium contribution by $70.00 per month.
SPOC-covered employees have a four-tier premium structure.

Your dental health is as important as your medical health. The State of Iowa offers SPOC-covered employees and their dependents comprehensive preventive services and coverage for most conditions requiring dental diagnosis and treatment, including orthodontic treatment for children.
Dental services are provided by Delta Dental of Iowa. You may receive services from any dentist but there are advantages in receiving services from a dentist who participate with Delta Dental of Iowa or any other Delta Dental Member Company.

Vision Care Discount Program
In addition to dental benefits, your dental insurance also includes access to a vision discount program through EyeMed Vision Care at no additional cost. You and your family members who are enrolled in Delta Dental of Iowa are eligible to receive the discounts.
