2023 Open Enrollment Period

The 2023 Open Enrollment period is:  

October 3 -  November 4, 2022, 6:00 p.m. (CST)

This is the only time that you can make changes to your health insurance, dental insurance, flexible spending accounts, or life insurance, unless you have a qualified life event during the year. Please use this open enrollment period as an opportunity to review your benefits.

Important Dates to Remember

October 3, 2022 - 2023 Open Enrollment period begins. 
November 4, 2022 at 6 p.m. (CST) - 2023 Open Enrollment period ends.
December 16, 2022 - Changes to health and dental premiums are reflected on pay warrants.
January 1, 2023 - Benefit elections made during this Open Enrollment period are effective.
January 3, 2023 - If you elected to increase your supplemental life insurance, the Evidence of Insurability (EOI) must be filed with the Standard Life Insurance Company.
January 13, 2023 - 2023 Flexible Spending Accounts elections are reflected on pay warrants.

2023 Benefit Highlights

Health and Dental Enrollment for 2023

If you do not make any changes to your health and/or dental insurance during this Open Enrollment period, your 2022 options and coverage level (single or family) for health and/or dental will automatically remain the same in 2023.

Flexible Spending Account Notice and Increase

To participate in the Health Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or the Dependent Care FSA, or both, employees must enroll each year in Workday. If you wish to enroll for 2023, you will need to go to Workday to update your election.

  • The maximum Health FSA contribution for 2023 is $2,850.
  • The maximum Dependent Care FSA contribution is lowered to $5,000.

Electing to Opt Out of Health Insurance

If you elected the health insurance opt-out in 2022 and want to continue the opt-out option in 2023, the election will roll over into 2023. If you want to opt out beginning in 2023, you will need to do so in Workday.

Domestic Partner

All employees covering a domestic partner will be contacted by their HRA to complete a new declaration before October 21, 2022. If you need to add a Domestic Partner, please contact your HRA

Disabled Dependent

All employees covering a disabled dependent will be contacted by their HRA to complete a new certification before October 21, 2022. If you need to add a disabled dependent, please contact your HRA.

Full-time Student

All employees covering a full-time student over the age of 26 will be contacted by their HRA to complete a new certification before October 21, 2022. If you need to add a full-time student, please contact your HRA.

Dental Insurance

There will be NO CHANGES in the benefits design for the Delta Dental plan for all employees and for the plan for SPOC-covered employees. 
This is not a dental open enrollment for SPOC-covered employees.   

Benefit Elections

Health Insurance

  • Enroll, change, or cancel your health insurance plan. 
  • Change your coverage level.
  • Add or remove eligible family members.
  • Elect the health insurance opt-out.
  • If no health coverage is needed, decline coverage.

Dental Insurance

  •  Enroll in dental insurance.
  •  Cancel your dental insurance.
  •  Change your coverage level.
  •  Add or remove eligible family members.
  • If no dental coverage is needed, decline coverage.

Flexible Spending Accounts

  • Enroll in the Health Flexible Spending Account and elect up to a maximum of $2,850 in 2023.
  • Enroll in the Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account and elect up to $5,000 if married and filing a joint tax return, or $2,500 if married and filing a separate tax return for 2023.

Basic and Supplemental Life Insurance

  • Enroll in Basic, if not currently enrolled. (EOI required)
  • Increase the amount of supplemental life insurance, up to the maximum amount available.
  • The EOI for basic or additional supplemental life insurance must be on file with The Standard by Tuesday, January 3, 2023.
  • Decrease the amount of your supplemental life insurance election.
  • Cancel your supplemental life insurance.

Premium Conversion

  •  Change whether the premiums for health, dental, and supplemental life insurance are taken pre-tax (before federal, state, and FICA tax) or post-tax (after federal, state, and FICA tax).
