​National Unclaimed Property Day

​The State Treasurer's Office is hosting a public event on National Unclaimed Property Day, which is celebrated on February 1, to make Iowans aware of unclaimed property and the Great Iowa Treasure Hunt. We would like to host the event outside of ​​Treasurer Fitzgerald's office in the Capitol (the hallways near room 113). If possible, we would like a table provided. We will begin set-up at 10:00 a.m. to place out laptops for searching and materials like brochures, business cards and pens. From 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., the public is invited to stop by to search their name in the database, ask staff their questions on unclaimed property and eat a treat we will be providing. We hope to invite a representative(s) from a non-profit or business to the event so Treasurer Fitzgerald can present them with a check of their unclaimed property. The media will be invited to this event; however, it is never certain if they will be there. Tear down will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
