Food Trucks Roll onto the Capitol Complex

Des Moines – Today, DAS announced a pilot program featuring Mobile Food Vendors on the Capitol Complex beginning Monday July 13, 2015. Mobile Food Vendors are welcome in the parking lot north of the Lucas building daily from 6am to 6pm.

“DAS is pleased to provide a new market for these entrepreneurs, while simultaneously providing a variety of lunch options for people on and around the capitol complex on a daily basis,” said DAS director Janet Phipps. “The Mobile Food Vendor industry has significantly expanded recently and the creativity and quality of many of these vendors is truly impressive. I believe they will be a welcome addition to the Capitol Complex.”

Mobile Food Vendors must be licensed by the city of Des Moines and will be required to adhere to all food preparation health and safety guidelines. Up to three vendors are allowed in the designated area in lot 15 on complex at one time. No vendors are guaranteed to be present at any time and the spots are available to vendors on a first-come, first-served basis.

The duration of this pilot project will be July 13, 2015 through October 31, 2015. Upon conclusion of the pilot project, DAS will evaluate the initiative.
