Jim Kurtenbach has experience in senior leadership roles in the areas of financial management, human resources, and information technology across multiple sectors. His experience includes strategic oversight and development of business initiatives from conception through successful deployment with a focus on customer success, operational improvement, and efficiency. Kurtenbach has served in various C-Suite roles to assist investors and managers improve company performance.
Kurtenbach specializes in financial analysis and accounting information systems, and is a tenured faculty member in the Department of Accounting within the Ivy College of Business at Iowa State University (ISU).
Kurtenbach served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of ISU where he fostered a robust collaborative working relationships with other members of the university and state agency directors in support of the University’s mission of teaching, research and outreach.
Kurtenbach served as a member of the Iowa House of Representatives from 2002 to 2006. Additionally, he focused on legislation to assist individuals with brain injuries and disabilities, in addition to tax policy, financial transparency, and financial management. Working in a collaborative fashion across party lines, Kurtenbach was able to change the way that care is provided to medically fragile individuals as they transitioned between Medicare and Medicaid systems of support.
Kurtenbach holds a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a Master of Accountancy from the University of Tulsa, and a BA in Industrial Administration from Iowa State University.
