The Wall of Fame is a visible place to post written messages about the work DAS employees are doing to provide good customer service. Compliments can be for any reason. All that’s required is that the compliment applies to a DAS employee. Send compliments to: Tera.Granger@iowa.gov - Marketing and Communications Team
Congratulations – Kevin Nation
I would like to recognize Kevin Nation for the job he completed on the floor work in the "F" building at the Ankeny Labs. Kevin made a bad floor look fantastic. His dedication to keeping his work area looking nice is exceptional, we appreciate his dedication and work ethic.

Just wanted to tell you that Ashley and I attended a meeting on Tuesday concerning an RFP for the Nursing, Dental and Medical Boards, and Ashley did a very nice job responding to various questions and providing advice to the boards. Ashley was filling in for her protégé who was unable to make the meeting and who is the point person on the RFP.

Congratulations – Judy McMains
I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate Judy and the quality of work she does for us. We are very busy here at the 4th floor reception area and have many projects handed to us that need immediate attention. When we are handed a print order that needs quick attention, Judy jumps right on it. She has it done and ready for us so quick, that our staff are amazed at us. All we did was get the print order ready.
It’s a pleasure to work with Judy and her proficiency.

Congratulations – Darwin Ten Haken
I just wanted to let you know how grateful I am to Darwin for his service today. The vendor came by today to install the client application and needed IT assistance. Darwin stepped in at the last minute and got us up and running.
I really appreciated his willingness to drop everything and assist me with the vendor. Without his help, the vendor would have made a wasted trip. Thanks!

Congratulations – Craig Deichmann
I wanted to tell you what a great job Craig is doing with the project management on our school and renovation project at IJH. He has been of great assistance on-site; has provided excellent leadership and is keeping this project moving no matter what! His time spent with us has been very helpful. He has even gone above and beyond with eating in a cottage and talking with our youth about careers in engineering and architecture. That has been an added treat for our youth. I just wanted you to know how much we appreciate his work on this project. He is clearly committed to the project and is very good to work with. Thank You

Thank you for working the extra time to ensure quality services are provided to the Legislature. This is just another example of how important you are in delivering print services. Congratulations – DAS Custodial Staff
We held our plant sale in the lobby of the Lucas Building. It was a huge success, and I wanted to comment on how nice, professional, and responsive the custodial crew was to us. Not just the one on the lobby level but there were several that I had contact with throughout the building.
I had a complicated and at times odd list of requests regarding how many tables to be placed in specific places by a specific time, before the event (which lasted all week). I took over the lobby and had people bringing in messy plants for people to buy, and we temporarily filled up the dock area with flowers during the day of the sale. Throughout the process the staff was responsive, personable, and even interested in the sale. Even though I felt I was asking for a lot, we could work together so that it didn’t result in too much extra clean up for them. They provided everything we needed when we needed it (actually early) and were so nice about the whole thing. They even tried to help us keep it clean during the sale. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

I would like to take a minute to let you know about how responsive Ken Thornton and his Electricians are. There was a 220 volt electrical outlet that needed to be changed at the Hygienic Lab. Tom Lust and Jeff Foster were out the same day and made sure the wire size was correct and replaced the outlet and the problem was solved, I appreciate the help and knowledge that Ken and his staff bring to the table on a daily basis.

Thank you for your quick response yesterday morning. I was pleasantly surprised when you called me around 7:30 am to try to help us with the encrypted laptop. Although we ended up using a work-around yesterday, you were helpful in figuring that out and we were able to do what we needed to do. I appreciated your patience today as we worked through the process to setup users on those encrypted laptops. We are happy to have the added users on the two laptops so we are better prepared for the next meeting. We learned quite a bit in the process.
Thanks again. It was nice to work with you.

We are able to gear back up now that the legislation has passed. I'm looking for the email where I think you sent me the draft you put together about creating a warehouse. But perhaps you gave me a hard copy? If you have it electronically, would you mind sending it to me? I want to send it out to the team so we can review it and get started again. This is an excellent piece, by the way! I appreciate you taking the time to put it together for us.

We received an exit briefing from the IRS on their Safeguard Review for department information systems. During this discussion we were provided the evaluation of the RACF security provided by DAS-ITE. A copy of the findings was shared with Louisa late yesterday
We were extremely pleased to hear the words the auditor felt that “RACF security was the best he encountered in his previous audits.” We have always relied on the talents and abilities of your excellent team for so many areas and therefore we were expecting nothing else. However it should be pleasing to each of you that the IRS confirmed our understanding of the outstanding service your agency provides to the department, not only in securing our information but in performance and leadership. We would welcome the opportunity to sit down with you and discuss the IRS findings Congratulations are in order for you and your entire staff for the excellent audit report

I want to thank you for all of the assistance you have provided to the Budget and Finance Bureau at the DNR. We are moving to more fully utilize the purchasing power of our P-Cards; we would not be able to do this without you there to assist us! Since the person who used to manage our P-Card program left to pursue additional challenges in State Government, we have relied heavily on your expertise—you have never disappointed us! Your assistance in training the P-Card program has given us so much! We believe that we can more effectively utilize and manage our P-Card program. We appreciate all of the assistance you provide and want to thank you for being so cheerfully available to assist us with all of our questions and tasks. We will continue to work to provide additional internal controls in our P-Card program as we provide greater purchasing power for our natural resource managers through more effective use of our P-Cards. Thank you!

The Standards Advisory Committee approved the Data Stewardship standard at the meeting this afternoon. During the discussion, Rob commented on how well-written the standard was and that he couldn’t find anything to ask about or disagree with. Other members of the committee chimed in that standards that have come to them recently are very well put together. I was sure they understood that you were responsible not only for the drafts but for shepherding the standards through the process of review and approval. They asked me to let you know how much they appreciate your work and to thank you on their behalf. I wholeheartedly agree with the committee.

Congratulations – Mike La Fary & Jim Lloyd
I notified Mike La Fary about this issue and he dug into it immediately. Mike contacted Jim Lloyd and by 12:30 they had determined what the issues was and had made code changes in the test environment. As per Mike’s request I re-scanned the web app and it came back clean.
This was a GREAT job on Mike and Jim’s part. Not only reacting quickly (under 3 hours from notification to remediation) to a security issue but Mike also made sure that any vendor partners were aware of the situation and that changes might be upcoming. Mike and his folks could not have been easier to work with, more responsive or more professional. I am not sure who he works for but if you know would you please pass this note on to his manager. If we could get response and action like this every time a security issue arises life would be grand.

Congratulations – Derek O’Riley
I have been meaning to write to you about Derek O’Riley for some time now and what a credit he is to Centralized Printing.
I don’t know where you found this young man, but do everything you possibly can to keep him! He is an exceptional graphic artist with a profound work ethic and is customer oriented to boot! His software knowledge is outstanding and his design abilities exciting. He cares, he checks, and he is as careful with each and every project that crosses his desk as if it were his own. He has made some suggestions that have improved the projects I was working on and I have been doing this work for over 30 years now! You can’t buy that type of individual, you are just lucky if you find one! You know that the DE tends to always work in crisis mode and on each and every occasion Derek has risen to the challenge with sterling results and a smile to boot. He does you honor.
Just thought you might like to hear this, because goodness knows we are always quick to yell if the job goes south! Keep this young man, and keep him happy because he is outstanding and a pleasure to work with!

In my humble opinion, the grounds staff has done an OUTSTANDING JOB all winter. In spite of all the ice and snow we've had since November, we've always been able to find a clear place to park and a reasonably safe path to the building from the parking lot. KUDOS to that team!
