Congratulations – Nancy Pinkerton and Joann Gooding
I want to give a special thanks to both Nancy Pinkerton and Joann Gooding for this QUICK customer service to both me and the Personnel/Payroll staff at DOC-Oakdale. They had sent their time reporting file for uploading last Friday night, on schedule, as usual. Oakdale contacted me this morning, however, because they found a lot of errors when those timekeeping records were translated to the HRIS Time Reporting system. The errors were in the fact that many of their employee’s cost centers were inaccurate on those HRIS timesheets. After I documented a small handful of the problem records, Joann and Nancy quickly identified the problem which was contained in Oakdale’s file, but also came up with a solution to fix their file, to test it on HRIS, and then process it in our noon update today.
While this was going on, the staff at Oakdale and a technical person at Kronos worked at trying to figure out why their file was dropping the trailer indicator. They were not able to find the problem – they will still work on it for next time – but because of your staff’s efforts, we were able to reload their file with successful results at noon today. Another save!

Congratulations – Marsha Small
While Marsha was showing me around the Historical Building, she mentioned that they had needed to replace some of the 60 W incandescent lamps in the restrooms. Rather than buying new 60 W incandescent lamps, Marsha bought 13 W CFL lamps (which are equivalent to the 60W incandescent lamps) to put in the bathrooms. I am extremely thankful she thought about the energy saving potential and took advantage as the opportunity presented itself.
As I told Marsha, the custodians are my first line of defense in lighting savings and I deeply appreciate their efforts!

Congratulations –Stella Sussex, Derek O’Riley and Mike Steven (DAS Print)
I want to commend the staff in ITE print shop who worked on the IUP Science Unit collective bargaining contracts today. In less than 24 hours, due a need to get these contracts printed, staff printed and bound 75 contracts. They also hand delivered the printed contracts to my desk this afternoon! This work was all very impressive and an example of the dedication they have to their work. We here at HRE truly appreciate this effort on the part of the ITE Print shop.

The equipment used to sign state warrants was broken. The vendor holding the maintenance contract was unable to repair the equipment in time to get ADC (Aid to Dependent Children) payments out on schedule. Vic Anderson and Brent Crawford disassembled and repaired the equipment and did deliver the output on schedule.

Last Tuesday, I brought a blue Ford Focus station wagon in for an oil change. I did not have an appointment and I only had about an hour and then I needed to get back on the road. Markus and your staff changed the oil right away and I was surprised when I picked up the car about an hour later that they washed it and vacuumed the inside.
That was a very pleasant surprise and it was much appreciated. Thanks for your good work and the help of your staff. Feel free to pass this on as you wish.

I just want to thank you and everyone at DAS for your help with the Governor’s Cup race set up and tear down on Saturday. James and Kari have helped us the last couple of years and they are fantastic. They certainly help to make a 6 AM set up more enjoyable for me and helped to get us out of there quickly after the awards program.
Thanks for helping make the race a success. We raised nearly $17,000 for the Iowa Homeless Youth Centers for which they are most appreciative. Until the same time next year.

Congratulations – Penny Nuzum-Hutzel
Is it possible to recognize Penny Nuzum-Hutzel for her extra efforts? While Sondra Carnahan was gone Penny helped in Sondra’s absence. Penny displays such professionalism and is detailed conscience which is very appreciated by the customers she serves. She received compliments voicing the quality of her work while filling in. While Sondra was gone Penny found the time to not only do her normal duties, but the extra because of Sondra’s absence and helped other custodians if they had an extra project that needed attending to. No area that she attended to showed a lack of service during this time.
She is truly a dedicated worker who never complains but is always the first one to volunteer to help others when the need arises.
We are very blessed to have her as a great employee.

I’d just like to pass along how pleased we are with how our office remodel turned out. Not only does it accomplish our initial objectives, but it looks great. The staff from DAS did a great job throughout the project. Troy kept me updated throughout the project and was always available when I had questions. Things moved along quickly and we were very happy to see the project completed before June 30th. I’d like to say a special thanks for the oak trim around the security window. When Troy and I decided to turn the window around, I knew it might not be the most pleasing to look at, but functionally it made sense. The trim adds to the finished look of our lobby and really changed the appearance – we greatly appreciate it.
In addition, your entire staff was friendly and professional as they were working on our office. They respected our employees and customers.
As a state agency that works with the public on a daily basis, we wanted to create an entry way that not only provided safety and security, but was functional and professional looking. Your team helped us accomplish that goal.
