DAS Fleet Services is responsible for the acquisition, assignment, rental, maintenance, risk management, repairs, and disposal of motor vehicles used by State of Iowa employees in their official duties.

New Vehicles

• Current Minimum Replacement Criteria 
     - Passenger vehicles and light duty trucks = 10 years/120,000 miles
     - Medium Duty Trucks & Buses (gasoline) = 10 years/125,000 miles
     - Medium Duty Trucks & Buses (diesel) = 10 years/200,000 miles
     - Heavy Duty Trucks & Buses (diesel) = 10 years/400,000 mile

Vehicle Assignment Form (VAF)

Complete the fillable PDF for changes regarding your agency vehicles.

• VAF - Driver/Accounting Code Change (Send completed forms to VAFmailbox@iowa.gov.)
• New drivers must complete the Driver's License Verification Form.  
• VAFs for vehicle exchanges will be provided by DAS Fleet Services to the Primary Fleet Contact prior to the exchange.

Vehicle Assignment Forms are due by the 28th of each month. Forms received after the 28th will be reflected on the following month's inventory and eDAS billing cycle.

Used State Vehicle Auctions

Retired and salvaged State vehicles are sold at Insurance Auto Auction (IAA) in De Soto, Iowa. Auctions are held every Tuesday and vehicles are posted on the IAA website one week prior to sale. Contact IAA for more information: 515-834-1800.
