Pooled Technology Program Funding -- Fiscal Year 2002

Continue funding the creation of a comprehensive statewide offender database to store information. On a statewide basis, standardize and automate access to the database by implementing a Web browser based system. This will improve decision-making throughout the judicial, corrections, and public safety systems.

Enhance the State's ability to produce and maintain accurate geographic imagery data in a timely manner. This proposal provides more and better services to more constituents.

Provide a centralized and standardized infrastructure for electronic data storage. This will also facilitate the management, protection, backup, and recovery of data.

Continue funding the Enterprise Data Warehouse to facilitate and enhance access to aggregated information from various State agencies. This is accomplished by creating a comprehensive, centralized, statewide data base.

Provide an alternative source of funds for agencies to utilize for improving business processes. A completed ROI document would be required for each project.

Reduce State government program cost. Increase citizen access to State government programs, services, information, and forms by expanding the utilization of electronic commerce.

Continue the creation of a single, state-wide, comprehensive electronic referral system. The system will allow citizens and provider professionals to quickly and easily access community resource information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Lease T-1 line to facilitate web based licensing. The line may also be used for other board activities.

Convert the Unemployment Insurance Services (UIS) Tax System from a paper-based process to an automated system. This will increase service levels to both employers and claimants.

Continue the effort to ensure the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of information and IT resources. Develop and implement an enterprise security program that is uniform and standardized.

Create an Internet based system to facilitate citizen access to EMD services. This includes online processing of assistance and claims forms.

Purchase equipment to improve the process and reduce the cost associated with measuring gasoline pump output. This will also improve worker safety.

Continue program to design and evaluate an architecture which creates and delivers educational content over the Internet. This educational content will have numerous uses.

Continue build-out of asynchronous transfer mode technology for the ICN. This will complete the build-out process.

Purchase electronic system to replace existing paper intensive system. This will improve staff efficiency and minimize errors.

This project combines the core business systems of State government into a single enterprise system. These core systems include: Payroll, Human Resource/Benefits, Budget, Capital Assets, IFAS Purchasing, IFAS Accounting, Reporting Tools/Data Warehouse, and Customer Relationship Management.

Continue project to create electronic system to cost-effectively access and transfer accurate and timely information among educational entities. This system is based upon a national standard.

Replace outdated, paper intensive systems. This also includes the utilization of electronic forms.

Provide funding to continue, per federal mandate (by May, 2003), converting from analog to digital broadcast signal. If this request is funded, $11,000,000 is still required to complete the project.

Continue the program to enhance the State's ability to provide taxpayers and tax professionals with the opportunity to electronically receive and file information with the State. This will significantly increase electronic tax filings.

Install network backup system and uninterruptible power supply to protect and insure the prompt availability of various records. This also includes upgrading antiquated hardware.

Replace antiquated network hardware with current technology. Provide connection to Internet.

Retire inefficient data storage system. Purchase new system to protect data and provide reliable access to data.

Comprehensively upgrade Child Care Management Information System to more efficiently and effectively manage program. Correct specified program deficiencies.

Provide enhanced agency services to citizens via the Internet. Improve work processes for employees.

Comply with federal requirement to develop health care information systems that utilize Electronic Data Interchange. This applies to federally specified administrative and financial transactions.

Continue developing, deploying, and refining a comprehensive single information system throughout DHS. This system may be used by multiple programs for a variety of reasons.

Increase citizen access to the variety of services provided or facilitated by DHS by integrating the DHS services with the state-wide, comprehensive electronic referral system (Resource House). This will allow citizens and provider professionals to quickly and easily access DHS community resource information 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Construct and implement a comprehensive system interface across multiple programs and platforms within the DHS enterprise. This facilitates compliance with HF 2205.

Re-design two critical systems and develop accompanying new software applications. The impacted systems are client service delivery and financial resource management.

Upgrade agency computer system and software. Provide necessary training to agency staff.

Purchase technology equipment to enable blind persons to complete vocational training programs. This will also help blind clients accomplish tasks related to employment.

Install screen scraper software to provide graphic user interface for staff. This will facilitate more efficient and effective access to applications and data.

This project includes the planning, design, and deployment of internet services for employers. This will replace the manual, paper system currently in place.

Replace manual, paper records process with automated system. Create necessary disaster recovery plan.

Provide technology, per federal and State requirements, to assist families become self-sufficient. These programs include Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Food Stamp, Medicaid and other welfare programs.

Continue implementing federal compliance requirements related to the electronic issuance of benefits to eligible persons. This primarily applies to the Family Investment and Food Stamp programs.

Establish and implement required FBI security policy concerning criminal justice information systems. The policy must be fully operational by June 30, 2002.

Improve Board's decision-making ability by developing applications which facilitate inmate data collection and analysis. Potentially, this will reduce recidivism.

Continue project to create a central, standardized repository for justice system data. This will improve the decision-making ability of justice system agencies.

Develop a new voter registration system to facilitate the timely transfer of voter registration information in a less costly and labor intensive manner. The new system will improve voter registration accuracy and interface between and among all participating levels and agencies of government.
