Department of Administrative Services
State of Iowa 2009 Model Year Vehicle Contract Catalog
TO: All interested parties
SUBJECT: Catalog of 2009 model year LAW ENFORCEMENT vehicles available on the State of Iowa contracts
The Iowa Department of Administrative Services (DAS), Department of Transportation (DOT), University of Northern Iowa (UNI), and University of Iowa (UI), have completed the DAS portion of the State of Iowa’s 2009 model year Law Enforcement vehicles. The Department of Transportation and the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) will be making their award notification soon and we will post that as well as soon as it is available. Every year we cooperate to increase our purchasing power, and then pass on these savings opportunities to all political subdivisions in the State. Examples of political subdivisions may include Iowa Cities, Counties, Schools, Law Enforcement Agencies, etc.

Police Special Service (PSS) vehicles

- Ford 2WD and 4X4 Explorer SUV – PSS Series Group B
- Ford 2WD and 4X4 Expedition SUV – PSS Series Group C
We have included all available equipment options on the law enforcement vehicles. This will enhance your ability to see what equipment options are available from the manufacturer, and to provide a relative pricing of those additional options. Only those equipment options included in the “BASE VEHICLE PRICE” have been considered in the competitive bid for the Iowa State Patrol. You can delete/deduct the options we have chosen. You should exercise your own good judgment in selecting any additional equipment options.
To give us their best pricing, the manufacturers use our orders to complement their factory production. Thus, the vehicles the state purchases are not sitting on a dealers lot somewhere, they must be ordered in advance. Are you wondering when a certain vehicle ordering deadline date is occurring (called a “Vehicle Closeout Date” by the federal government)? Closeout dates change as manufacturer’s plans for production change. The true closeout date is the date the local contracted dealer must submit their orders to the manufacturer, so do not put off ordering your vehicles until the very last minute. The most accurate deadline date information comes from your local vehicle dealer. The Federal Government also maintains tracking dates at a website listing at GSA Vehicle Closeout Date
If you are considering purchasing vehicles from the catalog, please contact the dealer directly for questions and further information on placing your order. All the dealer contact information is included below. Please note that vehicles are available for order only during certain periods of the year. Some equipment options are only available and/or compatible with certain other options or ‘option packages’. The dealer can answer questions about the order deadlines for the particular vehicle you are considering.
We are here to assist you. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the bidding process. The least expensive and most efficient way to contact me is via my e-mail linked on my name below.
Sincerely, Doug
